Having split his time between singing and recording other singers for the better part of a decade, Jan has devoted lockdown to pondering the challenges facing opera and its practitioners in the wake of the pandemic (in his podcast ‘Are you what you do?’, on Full Stream Ahead - a livestreamed ‘chat show’ developed with Jamie Hall, or in the odd rant on social media). As Vopera’s ‘sound guy’, he relishes the challenge of creating a cohesive soundworld from disparate strands recorded remotely.
